Bad Poems by Gábor Reisz – screening,Q&A with the director

rossz vers - slide

On 24 September 2020 we will relaunch our Film Club with monthly projections and informative discussions for the public. We will screen recent feature films along with iconic movies of the Hungarian film industry: you can relive with us your favorite cinematic moments, discover and rediscover the most famous movie lines and enjoy the recent works of award-winning Hungarian directors.

The Hungarian film industry has gone a long way since its very first motion picture: “The Dance – A táncz” which debuted in the cinemas in 1901. Since then, Hungarian films have received several nominations and awards at the biggest international film festivals, as the Palme d’Or, the Golden Bear of Berlin and the Academy Awards.

Our first projection, on 24 September from 7PM will be Bad Poems (Rossz versek, 2018, HU, d. Gábor Reisz,  1h 37min, Comedy, Drama), Best Film at the Monte-Carlo Comedy Film Festival in 2019, and Special Jury Prize winner at the Torino Film Festival.

The life of Tamás Merthner, our 33 years old hero is upside down. During his heartbreak, he starts to question if true love really exists. He takes a trip down memory lane realizing what makes our current society so confused. From this confusion, a highly subjective view of Hungary’s present takes shape in front of us.

After the projection a Q&A session is foreseen with the protagonist, writer and director, Gábor Reisz.
