HUNGARIAN MOTIVES - folk music and dance performance

Date: 7th March 2018, 7 PM
mm trio 2

Musicians try to find the connection between classical and folk music, and folk-inspired improvisations. With dance, words, songs and music ...

Bognár Szilvia1The intention of the performers is to look back from Hungarian contemporary music to folk dance music, also to reach the pure folk music and to create folk-inspired improvisations without attempting to combine these genres.

The program consists the works of contemporary Hungarian composers as well as the works of our 100 years old ancestors; folk inspired written music or jazz; and folk music.

The different styles and genres of music are taken closer to the audience by the common works of artists.

ARTISTS OF THE PERFORMANCE:

The frame of the show is given by the Borbély-Fülep-Lukács trio. Members of the trio are:  Mihály Borbély jazz musician, who is also familiar with folk and contemporary music; Márk Fülep flute artist, classical musician, who plays as well as on folk musical instruments; Miklós Lukács cimbalom artist, known as a member of numerous formations. The role of cimbalom is crucial and remarkable. During the performance it brings together the plays of Mihány Borbély and Márk Fülep. World music knowledge of Miklos Lukács is a guarantee of creating a unified music picture.

Zoltán Farkas "Batyu" and Ildikó Tóth, folk dancers, and Szilvia Bognár, folk singer, make the production more colorful.
