About the artists:

Miriam Draşovean was born in Sibiu, Romania. She graduated from the National University of Music Bucharest and continued her master studies with pianist Viniciu Moroinau. She has also taken masterclasses held by Iustin Oprean, Adrian Oetiker and Balázs Szokolay. She was awarded second place and the Chopin Special Prize at the Carl Filtsch International Piano Competition in Sibiu. Furthermore, she won the Excellency Award at J. S. Bach Competition and received the Zsuzsa Szörényi Prize at Ion Perlea National Performing Arts Competition. In 2016, Miriam participated as an accompanying pianist in the renowned competition and festival Le Grand Prix de l’Opera in Bucharest. One year later she was awarded first prize of the jury at Zsuzsa Szörényi International Competition. She has performed as an orchestral soloist and has given solo concerts in Romania, France and Germany. As a member of chamber orchestras, she has performed in cultural centres in London, Copenhagen and all over Romania.

Cornelius Zirbo was born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He is a freshman in the class of viloncelloist Marin Cazacu at the National University of Music Bucharest. The young cellist has participated in masterclasses led by internationally acclaimed artists such as Gautier Capuçon, Frans Helmerson and Miklós Perényi. He studied in Paris in the academic year of 2016-2017 as the protégé of Louis Vuitton Foundation, while he also attended the Verbier Festival Academy in Switzerland. Zirbo has played successfully in various inland and international competitions and among others, he won first place at the StreichWerk International String Comptetition in Berlin. In 2018, he was awarded the Special Prize of Hungarian Music Festival organized by the Balassi Institute of Bucharest for the best performance of Kodály’s work. He has performed in Romania, the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Denmark and China. He has collaborated with Hungarian and international orchestras as a soloist and played with Mihaela Martin, Frans Helmerson and Gautier Capuçon.
